Job summary

Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an experienced Oculoplastics specialist to lead the MSc Ophthalmology module OPHT0034. The post entails coordinating teaching, refreshing content, and mentoring postgraduate students in a globally recognised programme in partnership with UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

Qualifications

• Current registration with GMC or equivalent medical body.
• Sub-specialist knowledge equivalent to a Consultant in Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbit (post-CCT or within 6 months of completing CCT).
• Experience delivering ophthalmic education is required or highly desirable.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Oculoplastics specialist to join the internationally renowned MSc Ophthalmology Programme delivered by the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology in partnership with Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking a Consultant, post-CCT Ophthalmologist or equivalent with specialist expertise in Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital Disease to undertake the role of Module Lead for the MSc Ophthalmology module OPHT0034 Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital Disease.

The MSc Ophthalmology Programme attracts students from around the world and is recognised internationally for delivering high-quality, clinically focused postgraduate ophthalmic education. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of future ophthalmologists while working alongside leading clinicians and academics in one of the world's foremost centres for ophthalmic education and research.

Main duties of the job

• Lead and coordinate module teaching and assessment activities.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence the future of ophthalmic education within a globally recognised MSc programme. You will work with some of the leading names in ophthalmology, support aspiring eye specialists from across the world and help shape the next generation of leaders in the specialty.

Applications are welcomed from Consultants, post-CCT Ophthalmologists and those within six months of CCT completion who have a passion for education and excellence in ophthalmology.

Qualifications

• Current registration with appropriate professional body e.g. GMC
• To have sub-specialist knowledge equivalent to a Consultant in Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbit (post-CCT or within 6 months of completing CCT)

Experience

• Have experience in delivering ophthalmic education

Desirable criteria

• Have a PG Cert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education / Fellowship of the HEA or equivalent (or be prepared to get it when in role)
• Have previous experience of delivering post-graduate education

Skills

• Have an excellent understanding and experience in undertaking research in Ophthalmology
