JOB DESCRIPTION Part-time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 4 year old boy living in Mountain Ash with my mother and siblings.

I love bubbles, playing with water-especially running water-and I find automatic doors very calming.

I am non-verbal, but it’s easy to tell when I am happy or sad.

I also use hand-leading to communicate my needs.

I require constant stimulation and support to regulate my sensory and behavioural needs.

I have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrwm Discorder (ASD) and currently awaiting a diagnosis for ADHD. I have no awareness of danger, including road safety and stranger danger.

I am impulsive and require a high level of supervision at all times to reduce risk of physical harm.

I present behaviours associated with PICA, which means I may to try to place non-edible in my mouth, so close monitoring is very important.

PURPOSE OF JOB The main purpose of the job is to support me to access community-based activities independent of my family.

Your support will also provide my mother and siblings with some respite.

HOURS OF WORK Support ratio: 2:1 Term time - 8 hours weekly term time (per PA) School holidays - 12 hours weekly (per PA) Typical Schedule:

  • Sunday: Start between 9am to 10am One evening per week (likely Wednesday) RATES OF PAY £14.15 per hour Mileage paid for journeys we take in the car together TASKS INVOLVED Ensuring my safety is priority at all times Providing constant supervision Supporting me out in the community Taking me swimming Take me to the park (weather permitting) Enjoying trips such as McDonald’s drive-through Take me in on car journeys (with a destination at the end) Providing personal care as I wear nappies TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Patient, energetic and young at heart Strong and confident in providing safe physical support Experience in caring for a child with additional needs, either personally or professionally Comfortable with a friendly dog in the home when collecting me One PA will need to be a car driver/owner with business class insurance ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.

A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.

The wage will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check

  • which will need to be carried out before employment can commence.

The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
