Job description

Overview

Casual Personal Assistant required to provide weekend support and companionship to a lady in her 40s living in the Rhondda. The PA will help gradually regain independence outdoors and provide support in the community, including travel to places of interest and activities that support current studies, shopping, social outings, and classes. Some travel outside the local area may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and companionship in the community and during outings, including engagement in a graded exposure plan to enable independent use of public transportation and outdoor activities.
• Assist with planning and participating in activities such as shopping, coffee outings, cinema visits, and classes.
• Provide cover for other PAs during annual leave or sickness on weekdays; occasional evening or overnight work may be required very rarely.
• Support the client in preparing for and going on trips, and assist with managing schedules and transportation as needed.
• Ensure safety at all times and be supportive of the client’s condition.

For My Son

• Help consistently manage challenging behaviour in children and apply calm, consistent approaches in difficult situations.
• Support the development of social skills and confidence when interacting with people and in places outside the home.
• Assist in planning trips and ensuring the family is prepared for activities and appointments.
• Provide support at home to allow family respite and assist with emotion management and appropriate behaviour support.

Place of Work

Both home and in the community as required.

Purpose of Job

The role is to provide support to the client or to the client’s son, depending on daily requirements. The role may involve working alongside another PA (2:1).

Hours of Work

Casual hours as required. Shifts vary across weekdays, weekends and evenings.

Rate of Pay

£13.00 per hour. 40p mileage allowance.

About the Job

This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS disclosure (police check) completed prior to commencement; cost covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will verify the right to work in the UK. Although part-time, a National Insurance number is required and employment will commence with an initial trial period. Wages are paid monthly and holiday pay is provided.
