Mould Engineer (Associate level) – Full Time – Onsite – Country: United Kingdom; City: Stoke-on-Trent (alternatively Tallington).

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Oversee design of new moulds, or modify existing moulds based on product requirements and specifications.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for mould construction.
- Prepare technical documentation including mould drawings, specifications and maintenance reports.
- Ensure all moulds meet company and industry quality standards.
- Support engineering to develop standard procedures and best practices relating to mould design and tooling introductions.
- Introduce new techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and extend mould life.
- Manage tooling introduction projects (NPI, replacement and optimisation) and control delivery within a stage‑gate process.
- Contribute to DIOPQ (Design, Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification) of tooling – verify tool design pre‑shipment; provide SME advice during IQ/OQ/PQ.
- Manage key supplier relationships – liaise with international toolmakers, particularly in China, to review, challenge and refine tool designs for quality, cost‑effectiveness and manufacturability.
- Provide SME advice on PPM activities and assist to resolve mould‑related issues (wear, flashing, leakage, dimensional deviations).
- Work closely with the quality team to address defects or non‑conformances.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.
- Contribute to training plans for production and maintenance teams on proper mould handling and care.
Experience and Training
- Strong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and use of PDM. Mould flow simulation is desirable.
- Understanding of materials science, machining processes and mould manufacturing methods, focusing on injection moulding and compression moulding best practices.
- Problem‑solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methods preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in low‑pressure or high‑pressure injection moulding or compression moulding.
- Proven experience with thermoplastic or thermosetting tool moulding processes.

Location & Travel
Based at Tallington or Stoke site. Occasional travel required to other sites and to China for FAT testing.
