Motor Vehicle Technician (MOT Tester)

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Salary: £36,363 - £39,862 per annum

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time

Closing Date: 25th November 2025

The Council (City Transport) are seeking a qualified MOT tester, time served motor vehicle technician to be appointed on a permanent contract.

The Role

City Transport have two test stations testing class 4,5 & 7 vehicles, with one site conducting compliance and MOT testing of Licenced Taxis & Hackney carriages.

The successful candidate will join the dedicated team of testers at the modern MOT test station facility at Wincomblee road in Walker.

Skills and Qualifications
  • You will have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • You will hold a valid MOT tester qualification
  • You will hold a category B driving licence is essential with categories D1 & C LGV licence being advantageous
