Vehicle Technician - Berkshire

We're excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for a skilled Vehicle Technician to join a prestigious automotive centre in the Reading area, representing one of the world's most iconic automotive brands.

Responsibilities

As a Vehicle Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing customer vehicles to the highest standards. You'll work closely with the Service Team to diagnose faults, resolve mechanical and electrical issues, and carry out routine maintenance. Accuracy in record-keeping and a commitment to first-time fixes are essential to exceed customer expectations.

Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, Saturday's are 1 in 4 mornings on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing vehicle issues using advanced diagnostic tools
  • Repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, and other systems
  • Performing routine maintenance (oil changes, tyre rotations, fluid checks)
  • Conducting road tests to verify successful repairs
  • Documenting all work and parts used
  • Communicating clearly with customers about repairs and costs
  • Staying current with automotive technologies and repair techniques
  • Adhering to safety regulations and standards
Minimum Requirements
  • Full Category B driver's licence (ideally held for at least two years)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence or equivalent
  • Experience in a franchised dealership environment
  • Strong mechanical and technical diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and with precision
Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance
  • Level 3 Diploma in Auto-Electrical and Mobile Electrical Operations
  • Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement
  • Experience in a prestige dealership setting
