Job summary

Trigon Recruitment seeks a skilled Motor Vehicle Mechanic Tutor / Trainee Vehicle Trainer to deliver hands-on vocational training at HMP Highpoint, Stradishall, Suffolk. You will work with adult learners in a workshop setting to build practical mechanics skills and employability behaviours that support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.

The role involves delivering structured lessons up to Level 2, creating ILPs, ensuring safety and compliance, and collaborating with prison education staff

Qualifications

• Trade qualification Level 2 or 3 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience as a Mechanic/Technician/Workshop Manager.
• Experience delivering vocational training or mentoring.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection.
• Teaching credential or willingness to work towards one with support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Motor Vehicle Mechanics training up to Level 2 (light vehicle maintenance, servicing, repair).
• Create ILPs linked to practical skill development and learner goals.
• Plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons on servicing, repairs, diagnostics, safety and workshop practice.
• Motivate learners to improve attendance, participation and qualification achievement.
• Complete documentation, ILPs, learner reviews and awarding‑body paperwork.
