As a Motor Engineer you will play a pivotal role in shaping fair, efficient, and technically sound motor claims decisions. You'll apply your experience in vehicle construction and repair to support accurate assessments, collaborate with suppliers, and drive continuous improvement across the claims journey.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Provide technical advice on vehicle construction, repair methods, and total loss assessments.
  • Manage complex motor claims from start to finish, ensuring efficient resolution through repair, total loss, or cash settlement.
  • Review and validate repair estimates, invoices, and mechanical/electrical failures in line with manufacturer, Thatcham, and ABI guidelines.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve disputes, investigate delays, and identify opportunities for recovery.
  • Support data analysis to identify trends, contribute to audits, and drive continuous improvement across the motor claims process.
Your Skills And Experience
  • Experience working directly with motor vehicles in environments such as garages, repair shops, or as a mechanic, assessor, or paint and body repair specialist.
  • Extensive experience in vehicle construction and repair across mechanical, electrical, body, and paint disciplines, with knowledge of estimating systems, valuation tools, and insurance principles.
  • Relevant Institute and Motor Salvage qualifications are essential.
  • Ability to make clear, accurate decisions within the scope of your claims licence, including assessing repair and total loss methods and costs.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to apply empathy, document decisions, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and repair partners.
