Job summary

Command Recruitment in Portbury, Bristol, is seeking an experienced MOT Tester to join a brand-new vehicle preparation centre. You will perform Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests to DVSA standards, ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy, with precise documentation and coordination with technicians.

The role offers up to £38,000 DOE plus overtime, a Monday-Friday 07:00-17:00 schedule, and the chance to work in state-of-the-art facilities at the start of an exciting new operation.

Qualifications

• Current and valid DVSA MOT Tester qualification.
• Experience performing MOT tests to DVSA standards.
• Good mechanical knowledge of modern vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests meeting DVSA standards.
• Accurately assess roadworthiness and identify defects.
• Complete MOT documentation and digital records.
• Work with technicians to repair and retest vehicles.
• Perform vehicle health checks as required.
• Ensure testing equipment is maintained and calibrated.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
• Follow DVSA, company, and health & safety requirements.
• Support wider workshop and preparation teams.

A major new vehicle preparation centre is coming to Portbury, and we're looking for an experienced MOT Tester to join the team from the start.

You'll be working in a brand-new, state-of-the-art preparation centre, with modern workshop technology, excellent facilities and a professional working environment.

The Role

As an MOT Tester, you'll carry out Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests, ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards and are safe and roadworthy.

You'll also:

• Accurately assess vehicle roadworthiness and identify defects
• Complete MOT documentation and digital records
• Work closely with technicians to ensure failed vehicles are repaired and retested promptly
• Carry out vehicle health checks where required
• Identify additional repair requirementsEnsure MOT testing equipment is maintained and calibrated
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Follow all DVSA, company and health & safety requirements
• Support the wider workshop and preparation teams

About You

You’ll need:

• A current and valid DVSA MOT Tester qualification
• Previous MOT testing experience
• Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of modern vehicles
• Excellent attention to detail
• A strong commitment to safety and compliance
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A full UK driving licence
