Mortuary Support Officer

We’re looking for a compassionate, experienced professional to join our highly skilled Mortuary Team.
Main duties
- Assist in delivering a sensitive and caring service for bereaved people, partners, visitors and stakeholders.
- Support the Mortuary Manager and colleagues in accordance with HTA requirements, relevant legislation, guiding principles and codes of practice.
- Coordinate service delivery to ensure mortuary provision is maintained during refurbishments and facility upgrades.
- Assist with the admission and release of patients and update electronic and paper‑based systems to meet HTA regulations and guiding principles.
Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above.
- Level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ, 2 A-Levels, Apprenticeship or equivalent working experience in mortuary or funeral directors.
Experience
- Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy.
- Experience with a range of mortuary techniques.
- Previous NHS experience or funeral director experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Keyboard and basic IT skills.
- Awareness of Health & Safety issues.
- Effective communication skills, written and oral.
- Evidence of effective time‑management skills and methodical approach.
Personal Qualities
- Commitment to complete and maintain mandatory training and required mortuary competencies.
- Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work.

Salary
£24,937 to £26,598 a year (pro rata for part‑time staff).
