Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Mortuary Support/Biomedical Support Worker (Band 2) in Oxford. The role involves mortuary and laboratory duties, data entry, and liaison with funeral directors. 37.5 hours per week with on-call rota after training. Sponsorship is not available.

The post requires GCSEs in English and Maths, basic IT skills, and a driving licence. Experience in mortuary or NHS lab settings is advantageous.

Qualifications

• GCSE English A-C / 4-9 or equivalent.
• GCSE Maths A-C / 4-9 or equivalent.
• Basic keyboard skills e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Previous experience with a funeral director or in an NHS laboratory would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Receive and record the receipt of deceased from wards and other sources.
• Match details on deceased with paperwork and assign unique mortuary register numbers.
• Data entry into the mortuary computer system with accuracy.
• Despatch biological samples to testing laboratories and dispose of waste.
• Liaise with undertakers and coroner's staff by phone/email.
• Assist with post-mortem preparation and cleaning of mortuary rooms.
