Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Modern Matron to provide visible clinical leadership across Whitby community nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative practitioner committed to improving patient experience, raising standards of care, and supporting the leadership team in delivering the Trust's strategy and values.

Role: Band 8a Modern Matron

Location: Whitby (North Yorkshire)

Contract: 3 months

Pay: £38.00p/h - £62.00p/h Ltd.

Hours: Full time but will consider part time for the right candidate

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to aligned services including the community ward and community nursing team.
  • Ensure high professional standards and safe, effective service delivery using evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the senior leadership team in implementing strategic objectives.
  • Monitor service performance and drive improvement initiatives across teams.
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire staff to embrace change and deliver high-quality care.
  • Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries, fostering multi-professional partnerships.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Current Adult Nursing registration (NMC/HCPC live register)
  • Masters level education or significant advanced knowledge/experience
  • Leadership experience at an advanced level with proven impact on service delivery
  • Strong understanding of clinical standards, audit, policy, and legislation
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, including strategic leadership
  • Good project and time management skills
  • Ability to commute between multiple sites as required
Desirable
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Teaching qualification
  • Specialist Practice in District Nursing or advanced/expert clinical qualification
  • Membership of relevant professional networks at local, regional, or national level
