An established engineering manufacturer in South Yorkshire is looking for a skilled Patternmaker to join their team. You will manufacture high-quality patterns from wood, resin, and polystyrene based on technical drawings. The ideal candidate should be apprenticeship trained or have equivalent experience in patternmaking and woodworking along with a good understanding of Health & Safety practices. This permanent role offers responsibilities including operating woodworking equipment and maintaining a safe workshop environment.

• Monday-Thursday: 07:00-15:00

Adept Resourcing is supporting a long-established engineering manufacturer in Sheffield in the recruitment of aumerator skilled Patternmaker. This role involves producing high-quality patterns in wood, resin and similar materials, used in complex casting and manufacturing processes. Working from technical drawings, you'll manufacture precision pattern equipment ranging from small components through to large, intricate assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture precision pattern equipment from drawings, including full layout, sizing and construction.

• Produce patterns using materials such as wood, plywood, resin and polystyrene.

• Interpret engineering drawings accurately and set out measurements to required tolerances.

• Operate a range of woodworking and patternmaking equipment, including:

  • Band saws

  • Planers

  • Cross-cut saws

  • Thicknessers

  • Dimension saws

• Work collaboratively within the Pattern Shop team to deliver high-quality output.

• Maintain safe working practices, adhering to all relevant Health & Safety procedures.

• Assist with general workshop duties, ensuring a clean, organised and safe work environment.

Person Requirements

Essential

• Apprenticesोपtrained or equivalent hands-on experience in patternmaking, woodworking, joinery or a related craft.

• Ability to confidently read and interpret technical drawings.

• Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety in a workshop environment.

• Proven experienceRunnable producing pattern equipment or similar items using wood, resin or polystyrene.

• Able to work independently as well as within a team.

• Good communication skills.

• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a flexible attitude to work demands.

Desirable

• Experience in large-scale patternmaking or heavy engineering environments.

• Familiarity with modern manufacturing processes or CAD-related pattern development.
