A healthcare provider in Leeds is seeking a Modality Extended Imaging Practitioner to enhance their breast radiology team. The role demands advanced practice skills in breast ultrasound and interventional procedures. Candidates should possess a BSC in Radiography and postgraduate qualifications in breast imaging. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential for providing expert care and training to staff. Weare looking for an experienced breast radiographer with additional advancedclinical experience to work as part of the breast radiology team in LeedsTeaching Hospital Trust to help deliver a high-quality service to patients.
Thepost holder should have acquired skills in all aspects of breast imaging andhave extensive experience working as an enhanced practitioner in a BreastImaging service. The role is primarily clinical, and you will spend yourworking day undertaking an advanced practice role in a symptomatic breastunit, this will include film reading, breast ultrasound and interventionalprocedures.
Werequire someone who has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills andwho can continuously improve themselves and help others to do so within ourdepartment. The post holder will provide support for training and supervisionand competency assessment for trainees in the service.
Thesuccessful candidate will be able to demonstrate evidence of DCR(R) or BSC inradiography, masters degree (or working towards) in breast imaging, aprofessional development portfolio, postgraduate qualification in breastultrasound, postgraduate qualification in mammographic reporting andpostgraduate qualification in interventional procedures.

Thepost holder will be responsible for carrying out interventional procedures,breast ultrasound, and film meeting within the breast symptomatic andscreening service. They will be an expert in their clinical role and be partof the breast senior leadership team, managing staff on a day-to-day basiswere necessary. Together with the breast radiology consultants and leadradiographer, the successful candidate will work to promote the service anddevelop policy and procedures, instigating and carrying out audit and servicedevelopment in line with best practice and national regional and localguidelines.
Thepost-holder will provide and facilitate expert level of care to patientspresenting with breast disease. They will exercise a degree of professionalautonomy in the decision-making process that will improve a patient outcome.
Thepost-holder must adhere to the Healthcare Professional Council and theSociety of Radiographers code of conduct, local trust policies, protocol andguidelines and be actively involved in clinical supervision.
Informationabout the symptomatic breast Service
Thesymptomatic breast imaging services is provided at St James's Hospital. It isan integral part of the breast outpatient clinic and provides one stopclinics. The service is busy and sees approximately 170 to 200 new patientsper week. In addition, the service provides imaging for follow-up breastcancer patients and family history surveillance. The unit provides advancedimaging techniques such as vacuum assisted biopsies, contrast examinations,including contrast biopsies and it is actively involved in research andinnovation.

TheLeeds and Wakefield breast screening service has various mobile mammographyunits and static sites across the area. The breast assessment unit is basedat Seacroft Hospital and delivers assessment clinics where a variety oftechniques examination to be performed

Totake a lead role in the advanced assessment and diagnosis of a highly complexcaseload within breast imaging using advanced practice skills. To act as anexpert practitioner demonstrating advanced clinical competencies and aknowledge base beyond those associated with an enhanced radiographer role. Tobe professional, legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of thework undertaken including the management of patients within the post holderscare.
Tooffer leadership, consultancy and specialist education for experienced staffand possess the ability to develop Clinicians/Radiologists/ Radiographers andother staff within radiology and the Trust.
Towork as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working within codes of practiceand professional guidelines with accountability for own actions.
Tobe involved in the daily organisation and delivery of the breast imagingservice.
Touse analytical and judgemental skills to interpret and independently analysehighly complex imaging to accurately differentiating between normal andabnormal imaging appearances.
