The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR division to perform planned, pre‑booked servicing and repairs for members across the Leicester area.

Work is scheduled with a clear timetable, no emergency callouts, and you’ll receive a fully equipped RAC van, a fuel card, uniform and advanced diagnostics. Base salary £40,170 with on‑target earnings up to £52,000, plus overtime and benefits.

Qualificações

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is acceptable as an alternative pathway.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

• Acompetitive base salary of £40,170, with on-target earnings of up to£52,000
• A guaranteed overtime option to increase yourbase salary, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities
• 40hours per week, with core hours from8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4Saturdays.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Leicester cluster, covering areas like Leicester, Oadby, Wigston, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, Loughborough. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growingpart of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicingdirectly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and noroadside recoveries.Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list ofjobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

What to expect

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with themember expecting you.

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

And because SMR is structured, you’re not reacting to breakdowns - you’redelivering planned work that you can prepare for.

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuelcard, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. You’ll use yourtechnical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again; safely,quickly and confidently.

What you’ll need…

Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
