Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Bath for its SMR division. You’ll operate on a pre-booked schedule across Bath area and nearby towns, performing routine servicing, diagnostics, and in‑depth repairs with a fully equipped RAC van and advanced diagnostics.

The role offers a base salary of £40,170 with OT potential, and opportunities to grow earnings up to c.£52,000. You’ll work 40 hours per week with some Saturdays; overtime options and a benefits package support your work-life

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

About The Role

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician inour SMR Division - a new era of mobile repair.

• Acompetitive base salary of £40,170, with on-target earnings of up to£52,000

• 40hours per week, with core hours from8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4Saturdays.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Bath cluster, covering areas like Bath, Frome, Trowbridge, Radstock, Shepton Mallet. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.
Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growing part of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.
There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and no roadside recoveries.
Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with the member expecting you.

What you’ll need...

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
