Job summary

RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division in the Derby area. This role focuses on planned, pre-booked work delivered to members, with no emergency callouts, and involves diagnostics, servicing and in-depth repairs using mobile equipment.

You’ll work a 40-hour week with a structured schedule, earning a base salary of £40,178 with on-target earnings up to £52,000, plus overtime and benefits. Training and career progression are supported within a national organisation.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growingpart of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicingdirectly to members - from your driveway to your workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and noroadside recoveries. Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list ofjobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Derby cluster, covering areas like Derby, Burton-upon-Trent, Swadlincote, Long Eaton, Belper. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre-booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

What you’ll need...

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
