Job summary

The Automobile Association seeks an experienced AA Mobile Vehicle Mechanic to perform servicing and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces with the support of the AA toolkit and network. Your day will be self‑managed, delivering trusted workmanship and excellent customer service.

You’ll work 40 hours across five days, with shifts 8am–8pm, Monday to Saturday, typically 1 in 2 Saturdays. Guaranteed earnings £40,000–£42,000 plus up to £2,000 performance bonus.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent with servicing/repair experience.
• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent with diagnostics/repair experience.
• Full UK manual Category B licence with no more than six points.
• Experience as a mechanic in workshop, dealership or mobile environment.
• Flexible to rota including Saturdays; customer‑focused approach.

As an AA Mobile Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll carry out servicing, diagnostics and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces, with the tools, technology and support you need to do a great job.

Pay within the advertised range will depend on qualification level and experience.

• Plus:the opportunity to earn up to a further £2,000 each year through our performance incentive scheme

And your working day starts and finishes on your driveway. That means you’re paid from the moment you get into your AA van until you arrive back home at the end of your shift.

You’ll work 40 hours over five days, with shifts between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday. You’ll typically work 1 in 2 Saturdays.

Job Description

This is hands‑on vehicle servicing and repair, delivered directly to the customer. You’ll:

• carry out vehicle servicing and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces
• diagnose faults where appropriate

• deliver the high standard of workmanship and customer service people expect from the AA

Qualifications

For the Level 2 role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an accepted equivalent, alongside strong vehicle servicing and repair experience.

For the Level 3 role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an accepted equivalent, alongside strong diagnostics, servicing and repair experience.

For all candidates

You’ll also need:

• relevant experience working as a mechanic in a workshop, dealership or mobile environment
• a full manual UK Category B driving licence with no more than six points
• flexibility to work the advertised rota, including Saturdays
• a professional, customer‑focused approach

Guaranteed earnings range from £40,000 to £42,000. The range comprises a contractual base salary of £36,307 to £38,270, plus a Mobile Mechanic supplement of £3,693 to £3,730 and a location allowance of £0. The opportunity to earn up to a further £2,000 each year is through the performance incentive scheme and is not guaranteed. Incentive earnings depend on performance and scheme rules.
