Job summary

Tarmac is recruiting a Mobile Maintenance Fitter to cover field-based work around Goole, Hull, Scunthorpe, Doncaster or Selby. You will maintain, repair and fault‑find on silo equipment and related plant, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Ideal candidates will have mechanical fitting/maintenance experience, fault‑finding skills, and the ability to work with motors, pumps and gearboxes. A full UK driving licence is essential; a company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Mechanical fitting, maintenance or engineering experience.
• Experience using hand and power tools safely.
• Fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working with motors, pumps and gearboxes.
• Basic electrical knowledge (desirable).
• Understanding of plant isolation procedures (LOTOTO) (desirable).
• Good IT skills and confidence using tablets, mobile devices and digital systems.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities on silo equipment and associated plant.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults using a structured approach.
• Working with motors, pumps and gearboxes.
• Completing maintenance reports and documentation using mobile technology and digital systems.
• Maintaining tools and equipment in line with company procedures.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintenance performance targets.
• Building positive relationships with customers, site teams and colleagues.
