Job description

Mobile Sampler

Are you looking for a role that takes you out and about instead of sitting behind a desk? This Mobile Sampler position offers a varied and active working day, where no two shifts look the same. Based in the Lincoln area, this temporary opportunity (initially 12 weeks) will see you supporting a crucial water quality function by collecting and transporting samples that feed into high-accuracy laboratory testing.

As a Mobile Sampler, you’ll work across multiple sites, independently managing your route, preparing sampling equipment, and ensuring samples are collected safely and to strict standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, engaging with customers, and making a direct contribution to public health and environmental compliance—without needing previous laboratory experience.

Main Responsibilities

• Carry out sampling activities across a variety of work sites and customer properties
• Prepare sampling bottles and equipment before each shift
• Collect, label, and transport samples in line with strict quality procedures
• Follow Health & Safety guidelines, lone working policies, and ISO17025 processes
• Handle investigative or additional sampling as required
• Communicate professionally with customers when obtaining samples
• Operate as the face of the service during site visits

Skills / Experience

• Full UK manual driving licence
• Ability to follow procedures and risk assessments accurately
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
• Customer-focused with clear, confident communication skills
• Comfortable approaching customers unannounced for sampling
• Competent in basic IT tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Willingness to join a standby rota including evenings and weekends
• Comfortable with manual lifting up to 25kg

Salary & Working Hours

• £15.26 per hour (including shift allowance)
• Full‑time shifts: 10.5 hours per day
• 4 days on / 4 days off pattern
• Weekend and bank holiday working included
• Initially a temporary 12‑week assignment
