Job summary

Direct Line Group is recruiting a field-based vehicle technician to diagnose and repair customer vehicles, starting from home with a 40‑hour week across a 7am–8pm window, including overtime options. Roles cover Peckham, Woolwich, Dartford, Gravesend, Beckenham, Bromley, Croydon, Caterham, Coulsdon, Erith, Eltham.

You’ll work with a Green Flag vehicle and a dedicated dispatch team to get customers moving again, with a salary up to £40,000 plus overtime and an OTE of £44,000–£48,000.

Qualifications

• 21+ years old for insurance purposes
• A current Category B driving licence is necessary
• NVQ Level 2 or similar accreditation in light vehicle maintenance preferred
• Demonstrate empathy and a desire to achieve the correct outcome
• Experience of the Motor Repair industry
• Experience of lone working (desirable)
• Utilise up-to-date vehicle repair techniques
• Health & Safety best practices and standards
• Collaborate with dispatch team to improve the customer claims journey
• Use self-initiative to resolve issues

Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle problems and determine repair requirements
• Prepare and carry the required tool kit and equipment to customer locations
• Carry out repairs or maintenance to get the vehicle back on the move
• Follow health & safety procedures and company standards
• Coordinate with dispatch to improve the customer journey and efficiency

Job description

What you'll be doing

• This is a permanent role in Peckham, Woolwich, Dartford, Gravesend, Beckenham, Bromley, Croydon, Caterham, Coulsdon, Erith, Eltham

You will be contracted to work 40 hours, four days a week, starting on a shift pattern with operating hours between 7am and 8pm Monday to Sunday, with the opportunity to do overtime, you choose.

We will provide you with a Green Flag vehicle and you will start your day from your home.

We know that our customer's vehicles make getting from A to B that much easier, whether that's to do the weekly shop, the school run or to get away on a staycation, it's all important, but sometimes our customers need us to get their vehicle back on the road and that's where you'll come in.

You'll put your technical knowledge to the test. Whether it be that they are out of fuel, require a tyre repair/change or a new battery, you will be ready and prepared to put their mind at rest and assist with a full kit on board to help them get back on the move. You will need to diagnose the problem and the understand the requirements to resolve it and give them the confidence to head off on their journey with no further interruptions.

• Up to £40000 base salary dependant on experience, OTE 44-48k, plus an additional 9% of base salary employer contributed pension, plus overtime.

What you’ll need
