About the Role

As an RAC Mobile Mechanic in the Service, Maintenance and Repair division, you’ll bring expert vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills directly to our customers, wherever they are. From driveways to office car parks, you’ll deliver first‑class service without the constraints of a traditional garage. You’ll receive your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools and diagnostic kit from day one, and you’ll work a 40‑hour week that keeps you moving and out of the same four walls.

Responsibilities

• You get people. Our mechanics are out there on driveways, chatting with customers, giving advice, and representing the RAC with pride. You’re not just in the RAC – you are the RAC.
• Your days vary: servicing, diagnostics, repairs and checks. You’ll also manage stock, handle reporting and keep customer conversations flowing.
• You think on your feet, making the right call for each customer. Different fixes, different faces, new challenges every day.

Qualifications

• Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary of £38,625, with on‑target earnings of up to £50,000.
• Guaranteed overtime option to increase your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
• 40 hours per week, core hours from 8:30 am to 5 pm, and one day in four Saturdays.
• Earnings that motivate – base salary up to £38,625 with the opportunity to increase earnings to £50,000 through bonuses and premium‑rate overtime. Full‑time 40‑hour week, Monday‑Saturday availability (8 am‑8 pm).
• Opt‑in guaranteed overtime – after your first month you can choose to work extra rest days at £30 per hour. One extra day a month could earn you £3,000 more per year on top of your base salary. Two extra days could give an extra £5,000.
