Job summary

The Automobile Association seeks a Mobile Vehicle Mechanic in Gloucester. You will attend bookings and breakdowns, perform inspections, diagnostics, servicing, brake work and on-the-spot repairs to keep customers moving safely. Training and support are provided, with clear career progression in a varied, independent role.

The role offers a 40-hour week over a 5-day rota, with shifts between 8am and 8pm and optional overtime. Commitment to development and excellent service is valued.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in a workshop or mobile mechanic environment.
• Full UK Category B driving licence (maximum 6 points).
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Communicator: clearly explain diagnostics and repairs to customers.
• Self-starter: work independently across multiple locations.
• Problem solver: diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle issues at appointments and breakdowns.
• Customer champion: represent the AA as a trusted expert for members.

This is the job

As a Mobile Mechanic, you'll be the friendly face delivering first-class service and repair work at our customers' homes or workplaces.

You'll attend a mix of booked appointments and breakdowns, carrying out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, brake replacement and on-the-spot repairs, helping to keep our customers moving safely and confidently.

With full training and ongoing support, you'll have everything you need to succeed in a varied, independent and rewarding role.
