Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the SMR division for Frome and surrounding areas. You will perform pre-booked, planned servicing and diagnostics with a fully equipped RAC van, a fuel card, uniform, and tools.

Sit on a schedule-based workflow with on-site locations and no reactive callouts. Expect 40 hours per week with core hours 8:30 am–5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays, plus overtime options to grow base salary beyond £40,170.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician inour SMR Division - a new era of mobile repair.

• A competitive base salary of £40,170, with on-target earnings of up to£52,000
• A guaranteed overtime option to increase your base salary, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities
• 40 hours per week, with core hours from8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Frome cluster, covering areas like Bath, Trowbridge, Radstock, Shepton Mallet. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre-booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that. Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growing part of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park. There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and roadside recoveries. Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

What you’ll need...

Either:
NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
or
5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
