Job summary

Avis Budget Group is seeking a skilled Vehicle Mechanic to service, diagnose and repair a range of vehicles to high technical and safety standards. This mobile role covers central Scotland and involves hands-on work at customer sites and depots.

The ideal candidate holds a Full UK Driving Licence, strong customer service skills and an IMI Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance. Experience in mobile or workshop settings is valued, with opportunities for career progression and comprehensive

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)

• IMI Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent (e.g. City & Guilds) as a minimum

Responsibilities

• Test, diagnose, carry out repairs and servicing to high standards and specifications
• Examine vehicles and report defects or impending failures
• Carry out tyre replacement and related work per manufacturer standards
• Use a range of tools to work on various vehicles and models
• Follow manufacturers’ procedures and processes as relevant
• Explain work required to customers to ensure safe, roadworthy condition
• Identify faulty components per technical standards and instructions

Job title: Mobile Mechanic

Salary: 33K-37K plus monthly commission

Role Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing a range of vehicles to the highest technical and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to test, diagnose; carry out repairs and servicing and undertake all mechanical repairs of vehicles to excellent standards and to the appropriate specification.
• Examine vehicles, recognise and provide a report on vehicle (or component) defects or systems of impending failure.
• Technicians replace tyres when worn, damaged or faulty ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with technical standards and any work instructions. Tyre replacement work involves but is not limited to.
• Ability to use a range of tools to aid the Job holder in their role and ability to work on a range of vehicles and make and models.
• Adhering to manufacturers’ procedures and processes wherever relevant.
• Diagnose the customers’ needs by listening, responding and explaining work required, to ensure the vehicle is in a safe and road worthy condition prior to leaving the depot.
• Identify work and faulty components in accordance with technical standards and any work instructions.

Key Objectives

• Assist in meeting VOR days of vehicles
• Deliver excellent customer service and communication at all times.
• Maintain a good understanding of outsourced third-party suppliers in order to achieve a quick turnaround of vehicle out of service maximising the volume of vehicles available for rent.
• Maintain a close working relationship with individuals throughout the organisation
• Assist in maintain the parts ordering process for the fleet repair process
• Assist with all repairs required within the facility and the use of outsource suppliers

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to explain technical issues in simple terms to customers
• IMI Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent (e.g. City & Guilds) as a minimum

Experience & Attributes

Essential:

• Experience in a mobile or workshop technician role
• Comfortable working with a variety of commercial vehicle types
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Positive, customer-focused attitude
• Team-oriented but able to work independently

Desirable:

• Experience using IDS diagnostic machines
