About the role

You’re someone who gets people. This isn’t just spanners and engines – our mechanics are out there on driveways, chatting with customers, giving advice, and representing the RAC with pride. You are not just in the RAC – you are the RAC. Every fix, every chat, every driveway visit shows what we are all about. You like mixing things up. Every day is a little different – servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and checks – and you’ll also manage your stock, do your reporting, and keep those customer conversations flowing.

You think on your feet. You’ll be trusted to think on your feet and make the right call for each customer. Different fixes, different faces, new challenges every day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide vehicle service, diagnostics, repairs and checks on customer driveways or external sites.
• Manage inventory of parts and tools.
• Perform customer conversations and service reporting.
• Make quick, expert decisions for each customer situation.

Requirements

• Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
• At least 3 years’ hands‑on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Compensation and benefits

• Competitive base salary of £38,625, with on‑target earnings of up to £50,000.
• Guaranteed overtime option to increase your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
• 40 hours per week, with core hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
