Job summary

City Facilities Management Holdings Ltd is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to service multiple supermarket stores across Essex. The role is a mobile, 40-hour week position requiring basic joinery, painting, plumbing and other fabric repairs, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will visit stores, log progress on an iPad, keep documentation up to date, and communicate clearly with store management to maintain safety and operations at all times.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds in a relevant trade.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Ability to carry out a variety of fabric and grounds repairs, including floors, walls, doors, toilets, fixtures, and general housekeeping tasks.
• Confident using iPads for logging tasks and accessing systems.
• Delivers work to a consistently high standard with attention to detail and pride.

Responsibilities

• Drive company standards, values and behaviours- Represent City professionally, follow all company policies and attend required training to maintain standards.
• Complete minor maintenance and fabric repairs- Carry out a range of building fabric and housekeeping tasks—such as basic joinery, painting, basic plumbing, minor floor repairs, fixtures and fittings—delivering work safely and to a high standard.
• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance- Complete all planned and reactive tasks within agreed timescales and ensure associated documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Respond promptly to Helpdesk requests- Assess job requirements, complete repairs where possible, and elevate issues outside role scope in a timely manner.
• Maintain tools, equipment and materials - Ensure all necessary equipment is available, safe and in good working order to complete assigned tasks.
• Provide clear support and communication across allocated stores - Maintain a regular planned visit schedule across all allocated stores—up to 15 locations—building strong working relationships, ensuring store teams are fully informed of visit dates, times and progress updates, and communicating clearly with colleagues and management to support effective decision‑making.
