Job summary

Evodia Limited in Bristol is seeking an experienced Project or Systems Engineer to lead requirements management, verification, and documentation on a government-funded defence programme. The role supports safety case evidence and compliance, with SC clearance mandatory and hybrid Bristol-based work arrangement.

The successful candidate will manage technical artefacts, review engineering deliverables, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external suppliers across the project

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
  • Experience in a project engineering, systems engineering, or a similar technical role, ideally within defence or regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to manage and review technical requirements, documentation, and engineering deliverables.
  • Knowledge of verification, validation, and assurance activities aligned with military or defence standards.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities, able to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and external suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience producing technical documentation.
  • SC security clearance is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical requirements, ensuring artefacts and documentation meet contractual and legislative standards.
  • Verify and recommend the use of technical data to support the maturity of engineering documentation, providing assurance of safety and capability compliance.
  • Ensure design activities adhere to relevant legislation, standards, and policies, covering aspects such as safety, security, and sustainability.
  • Identify, assess, and elevate project risks, providing SME input into safety panels, hazard logs, and risk reviews.
  • Oversee subsystem design to meet customer requirements within scope, cost, and schedule constraints, clearly articulating any deficiencies.
  • Participate in design verification, validation, and testing activities, scrutinising results and supporting documentation to ensure technical integrity.
  • Support technical assurance and certification activities, assisting in the delivery of safety case evidence and compliance documentation.

Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for defence systems and project delivery? We’re partnering with a key client on a high-profile, government-funded project to develop the next-generation Mobile Fires Platform (MFP). This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise within a highly regulated environment, supporting the delivery of vital military capabilities.

About the Role

This contract position, based in Bristol with hybrid working options, is ideal for a Project or Systems Engineer with a solid background in requirements management, verification, validation, and technical documentation. You’ll play a critical role in managing technical artefacts, ensuring compliance, and supporting the delivery of the RCH155 howitzer replacement for the British Army.

Key Responsibilities

Manage technical requirements, ensuring all artefacts and documentation meet contractual and legislative standards.

Verify and recommend the use of technical data to support the maturity of engineering documentation, providing assurance of safety and capability compliance.

Ensure design activities adhere to relevant legislation, standards, and policies, covering aspects such as safety, security, and sustainability.

Identify, assess, and elevate project risks, providing SME input into safety panels, hazard logs, and risk reviews.

Oversee subsystem design to meet customer requirements within scope, cost, and schedule constraints, clearly articulating any deficiencies.

What We’re Looking For

A degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience in a project engineering, systems engineering, or a similar technical role, ideally within defence or regulated environments.

Proven ability to manage and review technical requirements, documentation, and engineering deliverables.

Knowledge of verification, validation, and assurance activities aligned with military or defence standards.

Strong stakeholder management capabilities, able to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and external suppliers.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience producing technical documentation.

SC security clearance is mandatory.

Desirable Skills

Experience with military land vehicles or related systems.

Professional registration (EngTech, IEng, or CEng) or towards registration.

Details

Initial contract until 31st March 2027, with potential for extension. The role pays up to £440 per day (inside IR35). Standard hours are 7.5 per day, based in Bristol with 23 days onsite per week, supporting a dynamic and impactful project.
