Job summary

Pareto FM is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to support a portfolio of commercial properties across Oxford, South London, Kent and West London.

You will deliver PPM, reactive maintenance and minor mechanical works to ensure building services operate safely and compliantly. This mobile role suits an experienced engineer comfortable working across multiple sites and liaising with clients.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in mechanical discipline.
  • Apprenticeship-trained mechanical engineer.
  • Experience delivering mechanical maintenance in commercial buildings.
  • Strong experience with both PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • ACOP L8/Legionella control knowledge.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance across the portfolio.
  • Maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical building services systems.
  • Undertake minor mechanical works and repairs.
  • Identify faults and recommend remedial works.
  • Support safe operation of mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Comply with ACOP L8 Legionella control requirements.
  • Complete job sheets and maintenance reports using CAFM.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders on site.
  • Work with fellow engineers and contractors.
  • Ensure works are completed safely per procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rota with £200 standby payment.

Mobile Mechanical Engineer – Building Services / FM

Location: Oxford, South London, Kent & West London

On-Call: Rota participation required – £200 standby payment

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Mobile Mechanical Engineer to support a portfolio of commercial properties across Oxford, South London, Kent and West London.

Working across a varied portfolio, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and minor mechanical works, ensuring building services operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with statutory requirements.

This is a mobile role suited to an experienced mechanical engineer who is comfortable working independently across multiple sites while providing a professional, customer-focused service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the portfolio.

  • Maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical building-services systems and associated plant.

  • Undertake minor mechanical works and repairs as required.

  • Identify faults, diagnose issues and recommend appropriate remedial works.

  • Support the safe and compliant operation of mechanical plant and equipment.

  • Carry out duties in accordance with ACOP L8 requirements for the control of Legionella.

  • Complete job sheets, maintenance records and reports accurately using CAFM and other company systems.

  • Identify additional or follow-on works and report these appropriately.

  • Liaise professionally with clients, building users and other stakeholders while on site.

  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, contractors and the wider operational team.

  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and statutory requirements.

  • Participate in the engineering on-call rota, with a £200 standby payment.

What We’re Looking For

You will be an experienced mechanical engineer with a background in commercial building services, facilities management or a similar environment.

You will ideally have:

  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in a mechanical discipline, or equivalent.

  • Apprenticeship-trained mechanical engineering background or equivalent practical training.

  • Previous experience delivering mechanical maintenance within commercial buildings.

  • Strong experience of both PPM and reactive maintenance.

  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving capability.

  • Sound knowledge of ACOP L8 / Legionella control.

  • A good understanding of associated building-services systems.

  • Confidence using CAFM systems, email and electronic reporting tools.

  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.

  • Ability to work independently while remaining part of a wider engineering team.

  • Full UK driving licence, due to the mobile nature of the position.
