Job summary

Boots Opticians is seeking a Mobile Dispensing Optician to provide crucial clinical support in Boots stores across the region. You will work with a Mobile Optometrist to ensure a seamless patient journey from chair to dispense, lead care delivery, and coach other team members.

The role requires GOC registration, strong optical experience, high clinical standards, and willingness to travel between stores. You will engage with store and area leaders and participate in regular leadership

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver exceptional care, supporting patients and customers in dispensing and optical services.
• Provide expert knowledge for patients with specialist requirements.
• Coach and supervise colleagues and students, including Student Dispensing Opticians.
• Work with Boots Healthcare teams to support a one-health solution.
• Ensure compliance with Boots Opticians clinical policies and SOPs.
• Contribute to efficient daily operations and high clinical standards in stores.
• Participate in store leadership meetings to maintain patient safety and service quality.
• Promote digital tools to customers through quality conversations.

About the role

Our Mobile Dispensing Opticians play a key role in the area at providing crucial clinical support in stores for regulated dispensing. You will work very closely with a Mobile Optometrist and provide a customer experience where there is a seamless journey for the patient from chair to dispense. You will also:

• Role model, lead and deliver exceptional care, supporting patients and customers to make appropriate choices regarding optical and healthcare products and services
• Work flexibly across the opticians area according to business need, continually developing your knowledge so that you can be at your best for patients and customers
• Provide expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements
• Deliver complete healthcare solutions for our patients and customers and coach other opticians team members to do the same
• Work with the Boots Healthcare teams to give a one health solution
• Supervise the development, education and training of colleagues and support and mentor students (including Student Dispensing Opticians)
• Comply with the standards of practice and the current Boots Opticians clinical policies and standard operating procedures
• Support the opticians team to deliver an efficient model day and other operational processes to ensure that the opticians business trades legally and safely
• Get Involved in regular store leadership team meetings to ensure high clinical standards are maintained to support patient safety
• Actively embraces and advocate the digital agenda and introduce customers to these tools where appropriate through great conversations

• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
• Optical experience and expertise
• Great at building relationships. You will be working very closely with a range of stakeholders including store and area leaders, peers, customers and external local professionals
• High clinical standards
• A role model working to lead and deliver our Healthcare Ambition, to be the first choice for patients for their dispensing needs
• Motivated to own your learning and development, completing all educational training CET as part of the GOC requirement
• Willing and able to travel to different stores in the region
