Job summary

Crawley Borough Council is seeking a Mobile Cleaner to support the Crawley Homes Cleaning and Clearance Team. You will maintain clean, safe communal areas across our housing stock and work as part of a dedicated team to ensure residents and visitors enjoy a high standard of environments.

Responsibilities include cleaning blocks, litter-picking external areas, assisting in sheltered housing and void properties, reporting defects, and responding to complaints while ensuring compliance with health

Qualifications

• Experience cleaning commercial or residential premises.
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Ability to use mechanised cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean communal areas within blocks of flats (corridors, stairwells, halls, lifts).
• Sweep and litter-pick external areas near entrances.
• Clean bin stores as required.
• Assist with cleaning duties in sheltered housing, hostels and void properties.
• Report defects to Cleaning and Clearance Manager.
• Respond to complaints and take remedial actions.
• Follow health and safety, equality and environmental policies.

Job description

• Location: Throughout the borough of Crawley

We are looking for a Mobile Cleaner to join the Crawley Homes Cleaning and Clearance Team, helping to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming communal areas across our housing stock. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents and visitors enjoy a high standard of environment within our communities.

As a Cleaner, you will undertake a variety of cleaning and clearance duties across Crawley Homes properties, including:

• cleaning communal areas within blocks of flats, including corridors, stairwells, entrance halls and lifts
• sweeping and litter-picking external areas adjacent to entrances
• cleaning bin stores as required
• assisting with cleaning duties in sheltered housing schemes, hostels and void properties when needed
• reporting defects and maintenance concerns to the Cleaning and Clearance Manager
• responding appropriately to complaints and carrying out remedial actions where necessary
• ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety requirements, equality commitments and environmental policies

You should have previous experience of cleaning commercial or residential premises together with a working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and the ability to use mechanised cleaning equipment.

Additional information

The successful candidate will:

• be required to wear a uniform
• be willing to adjust working hours in emergency situations when required
• work as part of a supportive and committed team delivering vital services to residents across the borough

Hours of work will be 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

A positive attitude towards customer service is essential and a flexible approach is also necessary.

A full and current UK driving licence will be a requirement of the role.

A Baseline Personnel Security Standard check is required as part of this role, and that will also entail the successful applicant undertaking a Basic Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.
