Royal Mail Group in Chelmsford is seeking a Mobile Cleaning Operative to travel between sites, performing cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, toilets, bins and litter picking.

The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, with early/late shifts. A full UK driving licence is required and a work van will be provided. Training is supplied, with benefits including 22.5–25 days leave and a pension scheme.

Join Royal Mail P&FS as a Mobile Cleaning Operative - Keep Our Sites Sparkling!

Location: Chelmsford and the surrounding area
Job Reference Number: 344368
Pay: £13.10 per hour
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Schedule: Monday to Friday 6.5 hours, Saturday 5 hours - between 7am and 2pm.

Must be flexible as there could be early, late or night shifts and also the occasional Sunday where there will be a day off during the week.

About the Role

As a Mobile Cleaning Operative, you’ll travel between multiple sites in Chelmsford and the surrounding area covering for absences and holidays. Your responsibilities will include a range of cleaning tasks, including:

• Mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
• Cleaning toilets, floors and offices
• Emptying bins and sanitising surfaces
• Litter picking within yard and car park areas

You’ll be working independently or as part of a team, helping us maintain the high standards our customers expect.

This is a physical role that involves manual handling, but don’t worry - we’ll provide all the training and support you need to succeed.

Driving Licence Required

Due to the mobile nature of this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. A work van will be provided for travel between sites.

About You

• Friendly, reliable, and self‑motivated
• Able to manage their own time and work independently
• Comfortable using cleaning equipment (training provided)
• A good communicator who follows Health & Safety guidelines

Previous cleaning experience is helpful, but not essential.
