Job summary

CDM Engineering are recruiting experienced MMA Welders for a short-term contract in the marine and sea transport sector. The successful welders will work on sea fastenings and securing cable carousels for installation onto vessels, within an established hot works department.

Welders must have MMA experience to coded standards and ideally hold in-date MMA welding qualifications. Prior marine/shipyard or heavy engineering exposure is advantageous.

• Previous marine/shipyard or heavy engineering welding advantageous.

Location: Walker, Newcastle

Start Date: 21/09/2026

Contract: Approximately 6 weeks

Pay: £17.81 per hour PAYE

Overtime: £26.72 per hour after 39 hours

Nights: £22.10 per hour (Monday–Saturday)

Sundays: £35.62 per hour

CDM Engineering are currently recruiting for experienced MMA Welders to work on a short-term contract with one of our long-standing clients in the marine and sea transport sector.

The successful welders will be working on sea fastenings and securing cable carousels for installation onto vessels. The client has an established hot works department in place, providing a controlled and experienced working environment.

The Role

• MMA welding to a coded standard
• Welding and fabrication of sea fastenings
• Securing and supporting cable carousels for installation onto vessels
• Working to engineering drawings and specifications
• Maintaining high standards of quality and safety
• Working within an established hot works department

Requirements

• Proven experience as an MMA Welder
• Experience working to a coded welding standard
• Ideally hold in-date MMA welding qualifications/codes
• Previous marine, shipyard, heavy engineering or structural welding experience would be advantageous
• Ability to work safely and effectively within a busy industrial environment
• Relevant welding certificates must be provided prior to starting

Pay & Hours

• £17.81 per hour PAYE for the first 39 hours
• £26.72 per hour for hours worked over 39 per week
• £22.10 per hour for night shifts, Monday–Saturday
• £35.62 per hour for Sundays
• All hours available depending on the requirements of the project
• 12.07% holiday pay accrued
