Job summary

Targeted Provision is seeking SEND tutors and teachers to deliver Maths, English or Science tutoring for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. Roles are flexible, including in-person, hybrid and online teaching opportunities.

The position is self-employed, with opportunities driven by local authority referrals and school requests. Applicants should have 2+ years teaching experience, QTS/QTLS, Enhanced DBS and UK work rights.

Qualifications

• 2+ years teaching experience with SEND/SEMH, using trauma‑informed methods.
• Familiar with teaching English, Maths or Science.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
• Enhanced DBS clearance and two professional references.
• Based in the UK with the right to work, including for remote/online roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide in person, online or hybrid Maths, English or Science tuition for children and young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Plan lessons, deliver trauma‑informed tutoring, and report progress to local authorities or schools as appropriate.
• Adapt sessions for KS1–KS5 and maintain safeguarding standards.

SEND Tutor and Teacher role requirements:

• Experience: 2+ years teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
• Subjects: Familiarity teaching English, Maths, and/or Science
• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
• Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote / online jobs
• Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment

The SEND Tutor and Teacher role and responsibilities:

• Provide in person, online / remote, and hybridMaths, English, or Science tuition to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
• Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 - KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring
• Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
• We are on a mission to raise the standard of education provided to young people with SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).
