Job summary

Thales Group in the United Kingdom offers a Machine Learning Apprentice role within its Specialist Underwater Systems Engineering team. You will develop technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours to become a capable engineer, supporting naval and export customers with rapid, innovative solutions.

Responsibilities include collaborating with underwater systems specialists, testing and validation, site visits, and working on live projects with experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Three A Levels with grade B or above in Maths.
• At least one other relevant subject (Physics/CS/ ICT).
• Or Level 4/5 apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 9-4 English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Working with Underwater Systems specialists and software developers to create novel solutions
• Developing solutions with our partners across Thales organisations, academia and industry
• Participating in testing and validation activities
• Assisting with engineering investigations and problem solving
• Visiting customer sites and deployments to support surveys and trials
• Working with experienced engineers on live projects
• Professional engineering behaviours and industry best practice
• Understanding and working with complex engineering systems
• Different engineering roles and activities across live projects
• The Systems Engineering Lifecycle and key engineering processes
• Requirements capture, management and system design techniques
• Systems Engineering tools and methods
• IVVQ activities: testing, integration, verification, validation
• Structured and methodical problem solving and investigation
