Job summary

Clark Wood is recruiting a Mixed Tax Assistant Manager or Manager in Alton to lead a corporate tax portfolio, working on compliance and advisory work for owner-managed businesses. You will collaborate with Partners and senior leadership to deliver practical tax advice and manage client relationships.

The role offers exposure to complex advisory assignments, capital allowances, reorganisations and tax planning, with a focus on providing commercially minded guidance in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualified (or qualified by experience).
• Experience in corporate or mixed tax within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and advisory work.
• Experience managing and advising owner-managed businesses.
• Excellent communication skills with practical tax advice.
• Commercial mindset with proactive client service.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of corporate tax clients, focusing on owner-managed businesses.
• Review corporation tax computations and returns prepared by junior staff.
• Provide corporate tax planning and advisory support.
• Advise on remuneration planning, capital allowances, reorganisations and succession.
• Support acquisitions, disposals and company restructures.
• Collaborate with Partners on complex advisory assignments.
• Build strong client relationships and act as trusted contact.

Clark Wood is delighted to be working with a highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants in Alton who are looking to recruit an experienced Mixed Tax Assistant Manager or Manager to join their growing tax team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional seeking a varied role combining corporate tax compliance, advisory work and client management. You will work closely with Partners and senior leadership, managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses (OMBs) and providing commercially focused tax advice.

The Role

• Managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients, with a particular focus on owner-managed businesses
• Reviewing corporation tax computations and returns prepared by junior members of the team
• Providing corporate tax planning and advisory support
• Advising clients on remuneration planning, capital allowances, business reorganisations and succession planning
• Supporting clients with acquisitions, disposals and company restructures
• Working closely with Partners on complex advisory assignments
• Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact

Skills & Experience

• ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualified (or qualified by experience)
• Previous corporate or mixed tax experience gained within a UK accountancy practice
• Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation
• Experience managing and advising owner-managed businesses
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, practical tax advice
