Job summary

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated MVE Co-ordinator to join the Contextual Safeguarding and Exploitation Team. You will manage missing children cases and run 1-2-1 prevention sessions to challenge attitudes and raise aspirations for at-risk youth.

Working within Harrow’s contextual safeguarding framework, you will collaborate with Social Workers and multi-agency partners to safeguard vulnerable youths and influence care planning. A satisfactory DBS is required.

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold NVQ Level 3 or above in Youth and Community, Social Work or equivalent.
• Significant experience in contextual safeguarding, including CSE/CCE and youth violence.
• Knowledge of PREVENT, MACE panels and Youth Justice processes.
• Familiarity with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 (updated).
• Experience in managing missing children and related statutory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage missing children caseload and deliver 1-2-1 prevention/intervention sessions.
• Contextualise safeguarding needs within Harrow's framework and collaborate with partners.
• Share intelligence with multi-agency partners and influence care planning.
• Support teams in First Response, CIN and CLA to safeguard hard-to-reach youth.

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated Missing, Vulnerable, and Exploited (MVE) Co-ordinator to join the Contextual Safeguarding and Exploitation Team (CSET). This specialist team consists of a Team Manager, Deputy, Social Workers, and Business Support, all working in a relationship-focused capacity to contextualise the needs and risks of young people. Your primary focus will be managing missing children and conducting 1-2-1 preventative and intervention sessions designed to challenge attitudes and improve aspirations for those at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), and gang affiliation.

Operating within Harrow’s contextual safeguarding framework, you will deliver an integrated approach to youth violence and vulnerability. You will manage a small caseload, supporting cases alongside Social Workers in the First Response, Children in Need (CIN), and Children Looked After (CLA) teams. This role is pivotal in safeguarding "hard to reach" youth, sharing intelligence with multi-agency partners, and influencing care planning through skilled interventions.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 or above (e.g., Youth and Community, Social Work degree, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).

• Significant experience in contextual safeguarding, specifically regarding Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), Youth Violence, and Gang affiliation.

• A strong understanding of the PREVENT Strategy, MACE (Multi-Agency Child Exploitation) panels, and Youth Justice.

• Knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 (updated) or a commitment to learning this in readiness for the role.

• Experience in managing missing children and understanding statutory reporting responsibilities.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.

• A proactive approach to learning and a desire to develop specialist expertise in safeguarding and exploitation.

This post will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS.
