Job summary

North Yorkshire Council in Skipton is seeking a Minibus Driver to join our Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team. You will drive minibuses and assist in transporting clients with care and safety, delivering reliable local services across communities.

The role welcomes applicants with D1 entitlement; MIDAS training, First Aid and behaviour management training are provided. Applicants should enjoy working with the public and supporting pupils, carers and staff in education and community

Qualifications

• Experience is not essential, however some experience driving minibus type vehicles or in a similar role is advantageous.
• We are looking for a caring, flexible and committed person to transport clients needing additional support to get to and from venues.
• D1 or D1 (101) entitlement on your driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.

Responsibilities

• Driving accessible and non-accessible minibuses and other vehicles along with undertaking minor vehicle repairs as needed.
• Ensuring all passengers board, travel and alight safely, with safety equipment used correctly (full training provided).
• Using strong communication with school/centre staff, parents, carers and colleagues.

Across North Yorkshire, our Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team keeps our community moving. Our extensive network of more than 120 vehicles, mainly minibuses, and approximately 340 drivers and passenger assistants work tirelessly to deliver safe, reliable transport where it’s needed most. From providing essential local bus services to unlocking access to learning, employment, and social centres, we ensure nobody gets left behind.

We bridge the gap to critical community hubs, enabling independent access to education, supported employment, and day centres, and other meaningful activities in our community. The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys.

About the role

We are looking for a caring, flexible, and committed person to help transport clients that require additional support to get toand from a range of different venues.

• Driving accessible and non-accessible minibuses and other vehicles along with undertaking minor vehicle repairs as and when necessary
• Ensuring all passengers board, travel, and alight safely, while ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly. Full equipment training is provided.
• Using your great communication skills to connect and collaborate with school and centre staff, parents, carers and colleagues

D1 or D1 (101) entitlement on your driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
