Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a skilled Mig & Tig welder for a permanent position in Worcester. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality welding processes on metal and stainless steel, reading technical drawings, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Mig Tig Welder

Hours: Monday – Friday 40 hours per week

Type: Permanent

Salary: £17.50 - £18.50 per hour

Job description

The company is looking for a confident Mig & Tig welder to work in a high-quality manufacturing environment.

  • Carrying out Tig & MIG welding process to metal & stainless steel to manufacture items and components.
  • Cutting materials into the required shapes, checking dimensions and thicknesses to specs.
  • Welding & joining materials into a wide range of structures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project specifications and requirements.
  • Following engineering plans, drawings and instructions.
  • Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment.
  • Inspecting and testing welds with precision measuring instruments to standard requirements.
  • Dismantling metal structures.
  • Inspecting completed welds for defects such as cracks or inadequate fusion, and making necessary adjustments to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Check for product modification in line with Engineering department.
  • Regularly cleaning tools, equipment and work areas using 5S method & housekeeping rules.
  • Regularly maintaining and inspecting welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety during operations.
  • Following safety protocols, including wearing protective gear & maintaining a clean work environment to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Working in various conditions, including exposure to noise, heat, and fumes, necessitating adherence to safety standards.
Experience
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Tig & MIG welding techniques and familiarity with various metals and their properties.
  • Completed Welding Certificate (NVQ level 3/4 or City & Guilds) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in welding and adherence to specifications.
Physical Stamina
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials as required in the welding process.
  • Good troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues or welding defects.
