About the Role

The role is a secondment opportunity for a motivated and dynamic individual to step into the position of Midwifery Team Leader for the Antenatal Clinic and Fetal Medicine Unit, providing leadership experience at Band 7 and working closely with the wider maternity leadership team to ensure the smooth running of antenatal and fetal medicine services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide visible, supportive leadership for the antenatal clinic and fetal medicine midwifery team.
  • Support the safe, effective, and compassionate delivery of antenatal care in line with national standards and trust priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with obstetric, fetal medicine, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure continuity and coordination of care.
  • Manage day-to-day operational activity, including staffing, workload prioritisation, and escalation of concerns.
  • Drive service improvements and innovation that enhance patient experience and reduce health inequalities.
  • Support the professional development, wellbeing, and retention of midwifery staff.
Qualifications
  • Current NMC registration and substantial post-registration experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Confidence in decision-making and managing clinical and operational challenges.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of personalised care and supporting women and families through complex pathways.
  • Experience in antenatal or fetal medicine services (desirable, but not essential – training will be supported).
