The Band 6 Midwife will provide high-quality, compassionate and evidence-based care to women, birthing people and their babies throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period. Working autonomously across both hospital and community settings, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised care, promoting informed choice and positive birth experiences.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support women with both straightforward and complex pregnancies, recognising and responding appropriately to risks, complications and obstetric emergencies.
The role includes providing leadership and support to students, newly qualified colleagues and support staff, acting as a professional role model and contributing to the ongoing development of maternity services. You will maintain accurate clinical records, participate in audit and quality improvement activities, and ensure practice remains aligned with current evidence, national standards and the NMC Code.
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to safeguarding and patient safety, and a passion for delivering safe, personalised maternity care. Participation in the 24-hour service, including the on-call rota, is required.
