Midday Supervisory Assistant – St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint a Midday Supervisory Assistant. The successful candidate will be reliable, dedicated and hardworking and will help to provide a welcoming environment for our children, staff and visitors. Applicants must be able to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with children, staff, governors, parents and contractors and demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Work well as part of a dedicated team of MDSAs and teaching assistants to support lunchtime play and undertake supervisory activities.
  • Lead children’s games and play so that they become more physically active during lunchtime.
  • Encourage children to include each other in play.
  • Support the school’s Sports Leaders to facilitate play with their peers.
  • Help children to resolve disagreements independently.
  • Address incidents of poor behaviour choices.
  • Be familiar with the need to safeguard children and understand its importance.
  • Support the Catholic ethos of the school.
  • Carry out a variety of supervisory duties, including setting up and clearing the lunch hall, clearing spillages and cleaning the floor, helping children with their lunches (e.g. cutting food), encouraging children to eat their lunches and dealing with minor first‑aid incidents.
  • Perform other tasks as specified by the school’s leadership team or senior MDSA.
