Job description

Role: Midday Supervisor

Academy: Outwood Academy Ormesby

Start Date: November 2026

Salary (Actual Salary): Grade 1 SCP 3 - £5622.41

Working Pattern: 10 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday (12:15pm - 2:15pm), Term Time only.

Are you passionate about creating a safe and positive environment for students during their lunch break? Join us as a Midday Supervisor, where you will be instrumental in ensuring the well-being, health, and safety of students throughout the lunchtime period. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining acceptable standards of behaviour and building positive relationships within the academy setting.

Welcome from the Principal:

Thank you for your interest in the vacancy at Outwood Academy Ormesby in Middlesbrough.

As Principal, I'm extremely proud of our academy, where everyone is driven to help young people thrive and meet their full potential in one of the most deprived areas in the country. We are committed to the value that 'every interaction counts' and work relentlessly to transform students' lives and develop positive community relationships.

We seek colleagues who value a commitment to enriching student lives, collaboration, a growth mindset, and a relentless drive to 'turn our best into our normal'.

As part of the Outwood Family, committed to transforming lives and raising standards, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team if you share our passion for improving the lives of young people and our wider community.

If you have any questions or would like to visit the school, please contact Helen Murphy (HR Assistant) at h.murphy@ormesby.outwood.com.

You will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of students during the lunchtime period across the site, including supervision in the dining hall and other designated areas. This involves actively upholding acceptable behaviour standards by modelling outstanding conduct, manners, speech, and appearance at all times.

You will intervene in behavioural issues using positive behaviour management strategies to bring about improvement. Furthermore, you will assist in managing the dining environment, ensuring it is kept clean and clear from slip hazards by helping with tasks like clearing tables and tidying equipment.

The successful candidate should possess strong communication, teamwork, and caring skills. It is essential to demonstrate the ability to make quick decisions regarding when to intervene to prevent children from injuring themselves or others, or when to refer cases of unruly behaviour to the Principal.

Desirable qualities include knowledge of basic hygiene procedures and appropriate knowledge of First Aid. A willingness to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training is required. A satisfactory DBS check is mandatory.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) places staff development at the heart of its strategy to deliver excellence, aiming to recruit, develop, and retain the best staff through the Outwood Institute of Education (OIE).
