Job Title: Mid to Senior Hydraulic Modeller

Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 per year

Location: Birmingham, Reading, Bristol, Cambridge, London, or Taunton (minimum 3 days in office per week)

Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Hybrid

Sponsorship: This role cannot offer visa sponsorship

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mid to Senior Hydraulic Modeller with minimum 5 years' UK experience to join a leading River and Coastal Management team. This role offers hybrid working, with at least three days per week in the office, and the opportunity to work on high-profile flood risk and hydraulic projects across the UK.

You will work on multidisciplinary projects alongside teams from Environmental Planning, Ecology, Transport, and Civils, contributing to river engineering, habitat restoration, large-scale mixed developments, and major infrastructure schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver hydraulic and hydrological modelling studies in line with UK standards.
  • Develop methodologies that meet project briefs and follow industry best practice.
  • Produce high-quality flood studies on time and within budget.
  • Prepare clear reports and presentations for clients, regulators, and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Assist in preparing fee proposals; project management experience is desirable.
What Our Client is Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years' UK experience in hydraulic or hydrological modelling.
  • BSc/BEng/MEng in Hydrology, Hydraulics, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a professional body.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • 1D/2D hydraulic modelling using Flood Modeller, ESTRY/TUFLOW
    • Hydrological modelling (FEH, ReFH2, WINFAP)
    • Flood Risk Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessment input
    • GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo)
    • Other hydraulic modelling packages (HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM) - desirable
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality design solutions.
