Mid Level QA Engineer
Salary: £34,000 – £41,000 depending on experience
Location: Bristol (Hybrid) at least 2 days a week in the office
At CareScribe, we're building the foundations for more inclusive, neurodiverse-friendly spaces.
We build assistive technology that removes barriers and helps people work and study independently. Our products are used by thousands of students, employees and organisations across the UK, including Caption.Ed, for live captioning and note-taking, and TalkType, dictation software that turns voice into text.
Our ambition is to become a trusted partner for organisations, combining technology, knowledge and enablement to make inclusion work in real life, every day. Not just through individual adjustments, but through systems, tools and confidence that scale.
Everything we build is grounded in real user needs and lived experiences. Many of our users are neurodivergent or disabled, and they rely on our products every day. We believe trust is earned through genuine adoption, measurable outcomes and products people truly value.
We're recently PE backed and moving from start up to scale up. We're being bold about the direction: expanding beyond the UK, growing from individual products into a wider platform with new products in development, and sharpening our focus on where we can have the most impact. It's a great time to join.
As we grow, we're looking for a Mid Level QA Engineer to help make sure everything we ship works well for our users, now and as the platform grows.
Hi, I'm Tom, CTO at CareScribe, we want (and need) to produce quality, reliable software that genuinely transforms the lives of our users and customers. We have a small, dedicated and talented QA team who work well with our development and product teams, and this new role will be a valuable addition. You won't be walking into this alone, you'll have their support and wider Engineering behind you too.
We're looking for someone with a broad understanding of user experience, who can make sensible trade-offs based on context and is keen to understand our systems and applications in depth. You'll use the new tools available to help build out our automated testing, while bringing the judgement that recent advances in LLMs haven't replaced: knowing what good software looks, feels and behaves like.
If you care about quality and the people who rely on our products, I'd love to hear from you.
You'll join our QA team as a hands‑on tester, working closely with Engineering, Product and Design. You'll own the testing for the features you pick up, from the first conversation about what we're building through to release.
You'll be supported by Tom, our CTO, and work day to day alongside our QA engineers and the wider Engineering team. It’s a great fit for someone who’s confident running their own testing and wants to grow, whether that’s into automation, deeper accessibility work, or helping shape how we test as the team expands.
You'll likely be a great fit if you have:
It’s a bonus if you:
This is a mid level role, so we don’t expect you to have done it all. If you’ve got a solid testing foundation and want to build your skills in automation and AI‑assisted testing, we’ll support you to grow with the team. If you enjoy finding ways to break software (in a good way!) and care about the people using it, you’ll fit in well.
We want CareScribe to be a place where people can do great work, grow their careers, and feel supported. We offer:
This role needs you in our Bristol office at least two days a week. We can only consider applications from people who already live within commuting distance, or who are actively in the process of relocating to the Bristol area.
If you’re relocating, please tell us in your cover note where you are on the move.
This role is open to candidates who already have the right to work in the UK. We’re not currently able to offer visa sponsorship.
CareScribe is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and supportive workplace. We want everyone here to feel valued, respected, and able to do their best work.
