Job Title: MI Workflow Lead and Analyst

About the role

We're looking for a MI Workflow Lead and Analyst to join our team in Boots Opticians.

Reporting into the MI and Insights Manager you will:
  • Manage the business analysis backlog through implementing an in-take process for new work requests, prioritising of team workload, assigning tasks to team members, tracking delivery and providing stakeholder comms.
  • Manage the implementation of business wide improvements to Opticians use of data (e.g. best practice use of AI tools, creating requirements for new data feeds). You will also be the business product owner of regular MI performance reporting.
  • Provide analysis for stakeholders including the Opticians Leadership team, supporting data-driven decision-making and transforming data into actionable insight. You will utilise business data platforms and other sources to extract, transform and model data for ongoing reporting, insight and analytics. The main outputs is visualising and communicating complex data sets and models back to the business in the form of dashboards and presentations.
Key responsibilities
  • Have ownership of the MI team backlog and works with stakeholders to ingest and schedule new work requests. Manage the work schedules of team members and track delivery of assigned tasks. To provide appropriate updates to stakeholders on progress of tasks.
  • Support the Head of Data and Programmes and MI and Insights Manager through leading business wide improvements to data usage within the Opticians business ensuring colleagues are comfortable using new data tools and data products.
  • Be the Opticians product owner for regular MI business performance reporting; the "go to" person for improvement suggestions, manage a process of continuous improvement to dashboards and support colleagues to maximise benefit derived from dashboards. Be the Opticians principal contact with the Boots MI CofE team.
  • Grow the level of insight in the optician's business through completion of detailed analysis. From analysis drawing insights, conclusions and recommendations, translating and communicating findings to stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Identify operational opportunities and risks, and supporting the strategic long-term vision of the business through analytics
  • Provide training and support to colleagues on data tools and analytics best practices.
What you'll need to have
  • Analytical and motivated to identify issues and opportunities.
  • Basic experience of main data tools, SQL to extract and transform raw data, and Power-BI to visualise and model large datasets.
  • Visualise data and insights in compelling and actionable ways with visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and through presentations.
  • Curiosity, eager to continuously develop skills.
  • Communicate effectively across varying levels of data literacy and seniority. Able to bring insights to life (the "so what") for stakeholders.
  • Work often with vague briefs and taking an interest in the output and actions of your analysis.
  • Demonstrate resilience when overcoming obstacles to achieve a result.
  • Good stakeholder management skills; networking, influencing.
