The Assignment: High Standards in Modern Foreign Languages

We require a versatile and committed QTS MFL Teacher to join a successful Languages department at a well-regarded Secondary School in Cambridge on a temporary contract or supply basis.

This position is vital for ensuring consistency in language acquisition. You will be responsible for delivering stimulating and effective lessons that cover the required MFL curriculum, focusing on practical communication skills and grammatical accuracy. Your input will ensure students continue to thrive and achieve strong results.

Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging MFL lessons (primarily French and/or Spanish, subject to school need) across the required key stages, managing differentiated learning effectively.
  • Assess student progress in all four key skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing), providing timely and actionable feedback to support their development towards fluency.
  • Cultivate a positive and immersive classroom environment where students feel confident using the target language, promoting cultural awareness and curiosity.
  • Work closely and professionally with department colleagues to ensure continuity of lesson plans and resources during the contract period.
  • Uphold all school policies, including robust behaviour management procedures, maintaining high standards of conduct and effort.
Candidate Profileb>
  • Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, alongside relevant language degree(s) and demonstrable fluency in French and/or Spanish.
  • Proven experience teaching MFL across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is required; A-Level experience is a bonus.
  • Strong adaptability to pick up established schemes of work and quickly build rapport with students and staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English and the target language, alongside a dynamic classroom presence.
  • A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
