Job summary

Metrology Technician position to provide resource and support of on-site metrology, calibration, CAL cover, and QA tasks as required. You will work closely with QA and Production to maintain measurement accuracy and traceability across materials and components.

Responsibilities include carrying out measurements with manual instruments, 3D scanning, and CMM, preparing reports, and ensuring calibration and gauge management are up to date.

Qualifications

  • Support to QA or Production activities (problem solving, training, verification, PPAP, Registry).
  • Maintain clean, organized work environment and storage of samples, gauges, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out material measurements against specifications using appropriate methods.
  • Produce measurement reports and maintain traceability of samples and records.
  • Measure with manual instruments and 3D scanning for complex castings/forgings.
  • Measure with manual instruments and CMM for complex machined components.
  • Conduct ultrasonic analysis and hardness testing (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, Leeb).
  • Prepare metallurgical samples (resin mounting, lapping/polishing) and microscopic analysis.
  • Generate and maintain measurement programs (CMM & Opticline) for new/existing products.
  • Calibrate internal gauges and measuring equipment to applicable standards.
  • Arrange external calibration of gauges as required.
  • Repair/servicing of gauges internally where possible before external intervention.
  • Provide CAL cover as needed; tolerate shift work and flexible scheduling.

Job description

The position of Metrology Technician is to provide resource and support of on-site metrology, calibration, CAL cover, and any other Quality Assurance tasks as required.


Responsibilities:

General


  • Work in a safe manner adhere to all Health and Safety requirements

  • Comply with, and promote compliance with the Quality Management System

  • Provide support when required to QA or Production activities (i.e. problem solving, training, verification activities, PPAP, Registry)

  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment including organisation and storage of samples, gauges, and equipment


Metrology


  • Carry out measurement of materials in a timely and accurate manner against appropriate specifications using appropriate means and methods

  • Produce measurement reports and maintain traceability of measurement samples and records

  • Measurement: Performs precise measurements using manual instruments and 3D scanning equipment for complex castings and forgings.

  • Measurement: Performs precise measurements using manual instruments and CMM for complex machined components.

  • Material Integrity: Conducts ultrasonic analysis and hardness testing (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, Leeb).

  • Metallurgical Prep: Executes material preparation (resin mounting, lapping/polishing) and detailed microscopy analysis.

  • Programming: Generates and maintains measurement programs (CMM & Opticline) for new and existing products.


Calibration & Gauge Management


  • Calibration of internal gauges and measuring equipment to applicable standards

  • Arrange external calibration of gauges as required

  • Gauge repair/servicing internally as appropriate, whenever possible prior to requesting external intervention


Customer Acceptance Line (CAL)


  • When necessary (sickness, holiday, workload), provide cover for CAL; flexibility to work shifts required.

  • This role will require you to work 0600-1400 rotating to 1400-2200 Monday to Friday
