Job summary

S&P Global Energy's Chemical Research & Analytics team in London is seeking a seasoned analyst to support the Methanol & Derivatives coverage. You will develop market intelligence, build independent assessments, and translate data into actionable insights for clients.

The role blends rigorous quantitative work with industry dialogue, requiring advanced Excel, Power BI/Tableau, and familiarity with SQL or Python.

Qualifications

Up to 5 years of relevant experience in commodity markets, preferably petrochemicals.
Academic or professional background in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Economics, Finance, or a numerate discipline.
Data manipulation and presentation skills; expert Excel; proficient Office suite.
Working knowledge of Power BI/Tableau; SQL and/or Python a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform modelling and analysis to develop and improve analytical models.
Research chemical industry topics, identify data sources and perform statistical analysis.
Support experts in supply/demand balances, trade flows, and price forecasts.
Write industry reports linked to the value chain.
Translate insights into clear, publication-ready Chemical Economics Handbook research.
Respond to client inquiries with expert market insights.
Prepare client presentations and develop presentation skills.
Collaborate with teams to ensure timely, accurate publications.
