Job summary

M Group Energy is seeking Meter Readers for roles based in Lairg. This temporary contract covers shifts from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday, with training before fieldwork begins. Meter readers will read meters (inside or outside) and ensure accurate data capture while prioritising safety and customer service.

Role involves daily route planning, walking or driving between properties, and working independently with field manager support. UK driving licence preferred; some areas exempt London.)

Qualifications

• Pass screening and vetting standards.
• Provide 5 years employment history.
• Pass DBS check.
• Full UK driving licence (Not required in London)

Job description

We are looking for Meter Readers for our client based in Lairg.

This is a temporary contract but will be on-going.
Shifts: Hours available between Monday to Sunday 8am to 8pm

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Metering team. You’ll join the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, we provide efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters.
Our meter readers install, maintain and manage meters to make sure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored.

What will you be doing?

Initially youll take part in our structured training program, before moving out into the field. Start your day by signing into your handheld device & planning your route. Meters can be inside or outside properties, so you’ll need to choose what time you’re more likely to gain access to an inside meter. You’ll spend your day walking or driving (depending on the area you cover) from property to property, always ensuring your own and customers’ safety.
Once you arrive, you’ll read the meters and record the information accurately, dealing with members of the public and ensuring excellent customer service. You work on your own quickly and efficiently in an independent role, always with the support of your field manager and wider metering team. Come rain or shine you’ll brave the elements to get the job done.

What you’ll bring

• You’ll be self-motivated & energetic ideally (but not essential) from a background where you are used to driving, managing appointments & working outdoors.
• A full UK driving licence (Not required in London)
• Ability to work to timescales and under pressure
• Ability to walk for several miles every day
• You must be able to pass our screening and vetting standards, provide 5 years employment history and pass a DBS check
